Nokia Sirius RT tablet – it can’t be serious

Rumours abound that Nokia is waiting on the release of Windows 8.1 RT on 18 October to power its long-awaited RT tablet. Its choice of RT leaves analysts flabbergasted - “WTF – RT. It can’t be serious.”
Leaked photos appear to resemble an oversized Lumia 925 with a sleek polycarbonate shell, likely to be a fashion trendsetter. It is reportedly lighter than the iPad and has a full HD 1920x1080, 10.1” screen (that requires Windows 8.1 RT update to display it), 2GB ram, microSD port, and uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 processor. It will be a very well specified tablet.
It has a 10-hour battery but there has been talk of a dock-able keyboard with a battery extender.
The rumoured release announcement is 26 September, with retail availability well before Xmas.

Opinion
I thought Nokia’s Stephen Elop was a good CEO and worthy of succeeding Ballmer. Perhaps the RT tablet is his last hurrah, or payback to Microsoft, before a 1 April departure.
I know Microsoft has plans for RT but given that it tanked so badly - I am surprised that Nokia has even considered it.
Rumours of the 6” Windows Superphone codenamed Bandit appear to be a reality with release scheduled for late this year when Windows Phone 8.1 is available.
Nokia please make us a Windows 8.1, Intel Silvermont powered, fully featured tablet with the Lumia style that most appreciate – and sell it on a plan via telcos.
